Das Lied "Walking the dog" (auch: "Walkin' the dog") wurde von [[Rufus Thomas]] geschrieben und zuerst aufgenommen. Es wurde 1963 zuerst erst Single, dann auch auf dem Album <i>Walking the dog</i> veröffentlicht und war Thomas' grösster Hit, der in der US-amerikanischen Hitparade Platz 10 erreichte und 14 Wochen in den Top 100 verblieb.
 
Der Liedtext verwendet teilweise Bruchstücke aus Kinderreimen.
