Das Lied "Walking the dog" (auch: "Walkin' the dog") wurde von Rufus Thomas geschrieben und zuerst aufgenommen. Es wurde 1963 zuerst erst Single, dann auch auf dem Album Walking the dog veröffentlicht und war Thomas' grösster Hit, der in der US-amerikanischen Hitparade Platz 10 erreichte und 14 Wochen in den Top 100 verblieb.

Der Liedtext verwendet teilweise Bruchstücke aus Kinderreimen.
