Brain

Brain wurde 1971 von der deutschen Plattenfirma Metronome (Tochterfirma von Polydor) als Sublabel für Deutsche Rockmusik eingerichtet. Auf der ersten Labeletikette von Brain war deshalb unter dem berühmten Brain-Schriftzug in schwarz die Vertriebsfirma Metronome genannt. Die Farbe war ein dunkles Grün. Diese Grundfarbe blieb bis 1977 gleich, doch ab der Plattennummer 1056 entfiel der Schriftzug Metronome unterhalb von Brain; teilweise sind auch hellere Farbschattierungen bekannt.

Der erste auffallende Schnitt kam 1977: Zum einen wurde eine neue Nummernfolge eingeführt (statt 10.. lauteten die Bestellnummern nun 0060. ..., wobei das Album mit der letzten alten Bestellnummer 1091 war der Sampler Brain (History of German Rock)), zum anderen eine fast vollständig neue Labeletikette. Allerdings hatten auch noch die ersten Folgen der neuen Zahlenserie eine grüne Etikette vorzuweisen. Der Jahreswechsel brachte dann auch ein neues Logo. Das Brain-Zeichen wurde mit Himmel und Erde ausgefüllt, die stilisierte Linie unterhalb in den Umriss eines ausgeführten Kopfes verändert und die Grundfarbe waren verschiedene Gelb-Nuancen. Mit dieser Etikette wurden zahlreiche der bis 1976 erschienenen Platten wiederveröffentlicht.
